Ring Iris with Sapphire

Eiréné, the new collection by Janja Prokić, is inspired by Hermann Hesse’s 1918 tale The Iris. In the story, the flower becomes a gateway to the soul, a path to one’s inner truth and the courage not to be bound by external pressures or expectations. This profoundly symbolic text resonated deeply with Janja and left a lasting imprint on her work. “What touched me most was the idea that we should let into our lives only what resonates with our inner world, what will truly blossom within it,” explains the designer.
The collection is named after the Greek goddess Eiréné, who embodies peace, calm, and balance. She represents a gentle strength rooted not in struggle but in certainty and quietude. Janja intertwines this symbolism with the iris as a metaphor for quiet pride, determination, and loyalty to oneself. The jewelry thus transcends adornment, becoming talismans and artifacts that remind the wearer of the journey inward, offering strength and the courage to stand firmly and fearlessly in truth.
The aesthetics of the collection draw on the Pre-Raphaelites and the Victorian era, both of which regarded jewelry as ritual objects carrying hidden personal meanings. The delicate symbolism of the iris recalls Hesse’s description of golden hairs on its leaves as a pathway for beetles — which Janja reinterprets as a symbolic journey to the heart, to the inner self.
The primary gemstones of the collection are blue sapphire and emerald. Sapphire has long symbolized truth, loyalty, and faith, teaching us to trust our intuition and subconscious. Its blue hue evokes the silent depths of the soul, where one encounters their truest self. Emerald represents harmony and the connection between worlds; its green tones calm the mind and open the way to deeper insight. The collection is further accented with Top Wesselton diamonds, emphasizing the purity and brilliance of the stones.
